  The Happiness Test
IQ Tests, Johari Windows - now we need to take such prolific online quizzes to know how happy we are?

Interesting.

People are looking forward to this party of mine on Saturday, and so am I. Exciting.

Mother's Day is this Sunday, for those of you who haven't been aware of the sales at the shops lately, and this year I've organised a sentimental little something for my mummy dearest. We might go to lunch/dinner of some sort. Hehh.. *pulls out entertainment book vouchers for a discounted meal*

People have commented on my family, saying that we're all quiet.. or all rather comfortable with each other. It makes sense to me - that's how we are. But over coffee (McCafe - how desperate can I be? :P ) yesterday I think it was, my mother and I were discussing types of people. She was saying how she doesn't.. well, that she often perceives assertiveness as aggressiveness, that's why she's never promoted it in our family or anything. Yes, we are a quiet family and all comfortable with each other and know where the personal space boundaries are... heh.. But there's never yelling or anything like that. Hmm.. that's why I sometimes on China Tour found teachers, etc, frustrating...

Some exciting events of today!: EXO at lunchtime - we're starting a thing this term about God's promises.. Becky did an intro on that.. bit of an eye-opener. Also went shopping with the mother for some party gear.. Namely 80's Karaoke DVDs!!!! Yes, it shall be all painful .. I've already checked them out. Random "beautiful" girls that have nothing to do with the songs (although filmed in Australia).. although! Surprisingly good back up music - including even some vocals! When I go off to karaoke with friends, the songs are not in english (crazy otakus that we are) and it's usually a one or two note high pitched keyboard synth noise.. So it shall be slightly more pleasant.

Tomorrow night is FESTY-VALE`! Lots of fun and games! Oh, and Michael Jackson's Thriller will be played at my party, so all us prefects will be able to dance the night away.. hehehh..

Better do that mother's day plan before she returns from supermarket-ing.. Aw...

Hey Lenny,

happy birthday, and all that jazz. If I had something meaningful to say I wouldn't have to direct you towards Belittle League, Adelaide's answer to karaoke and synth-pop.

Happy Birthday!

You haven't read what I wrote properly, have you?

1) THe presence of Jesus doesn't make me want to slit my wrist. I was being ironic about the degree to which God would protect me.

2) Trite MANNER, not matter.

But otherwise, thanks for your comment - I always appreciate another viewpoint.

PS No I haven't got anything against Christians, even though I'm an avowed athiest.

derrick...

I wonder if you would have written the same bitter, trite reply if it had been a Muslim or Hindu response. Pretty irrelevent really.

To claim atheism, but not to "have anything against Christians" is complete rubbish. Atheism, combined with "tolerance" of Christianity (which seems like thinly veiled hostility, from reading your post) is just patronising.

If I believed there wasn't a God, I'd be damn well telling all and sundry, and trying to snap them out of their ignorance. Hypothetically.

You see, unlike a lot of Christians, Rowdy, I don't actually feel the need to rub what I believe in their faces. People should believe what they want to believe in. I don't just dislike Christianity. I dislike organised religion as a whole because spirituality should be a personal thing, and people have done more harm through religion than anything else. In reply to your question, yes, I would have been just as bitter with Muslims. Maybe not Hindus because they tend to be less militant.

Anyway, if I DO hate Christians I won't have any friends because that's what most of them are. It's part of who they are and I identify with their value systems, and I like them all the more for it. The whole point of the post was to just highlight why I myself am an athiest. These people are praying for the girl, and these people have probably prayed for the girl the first time round - and look where it got her. The logic just doesn't jive. It wont be prayers that help her, but medicine.

Back to your point about athiests shouting their views from the top of towers...I can safely say that I hate them, mostly because of, again, their intolerance.

Anyway, thanks for your comment, it's always good to talk to new faces about stuff like this - better than jaded Christian friends who already know what I think.

So religion shouldn't be a part of such things.. interesting. I'm considering, then, how can any person bring their opinons into matters, if it's most likely to be 'obscene'... Wouldn't beliefs be intrinsic in anything you say? Even if you 'don't believe in anything', as it were. Perhaps postmodern teachings in English are getting to me.. *twitches* ggrrr, postmodernism.

Haha, you hate postmodernism too...there's hope for us yet. You're doing your HSC atm, I take it?

"God's obviously watching over you, and protecting you..."

Again. IRONY. It's this whole God is watching over you business. Anyway, the real point of the post was that the people were posting it on the Telegraph site...

As to the usage of the word 'obscene' - come on, a girl gets hit by a truck and all you can think of is god? I'd sooner worry about modern medicine.

Correction for second last comment - "don't feel the need to rub what I believe in, in their faces."
